Full neighbourhood file →The original settlement that became Calimesa sat on this mesa of former cattle-grazing land; roughly 40 to 50 homesteading families here petitioned for their own post office in 1929, giving the town its name.
Part of the 6,400-acre Oak Valley Specific Plan straddling the Calimesa-Beaumont line, this master-planned community (now marketed as Summerwind Trails) is slated to bring roughly 3,600 homes, 80 acres of parkland and 20 miles of trails to the city's southeast side.
This corridor along County Line Road and Sandalwood Drive was devastated by the October 2019 Sandalwood Fire, which killed two people and destroyed 74 structures, mostly mobile homes, over five days of burning.
A house at the east end of present-day Singleton Road served as a stage stop along the Anza colonizing-expedition route that crossed the San Gorgonio Pass in the 1770s.
