Lantern District (Lantern Village)

The city's official historic town-center planning area, the walkable core near the harbor.

Monarch Beach

Resort and golf neighborhood in the northwest of the city, annexed into Dana Point on January 1, 1989; includes an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Jr.

The Strand at Headlands

Luxury bluff-top development on the Dana Point headlands; the developer funded coastal-access and nature-preserve improvements as a Coastal Commission condition.

Niguel Shores

Gated community on the Dana Point/Laguna Niguel border, directly exposed to the eroding bluffs along the same stretch as The Strand.

Capistrano Beach

1928 Spanish-Colonial tract built by the Doheny family's development company, with a distinct roofline and ceiling-beam style; carries its own ZIP, 92624.
