The neighbourhoods

Where Laguna Beach actually breaks down, in the desk's own words.

Full neighbourhood file →

Top of the World

The city's highest point, roughly 1,007 feet elevation — a hillside neighborhood with the slope and drainage questions that implies.

Bluebird Canyon

Canyon neighborhood first subdivided in 1876; canyon topography carries wildland-urban interface wildfire exposure typical of Laguna's canyons.

Arch Beach Heights

One of Laguna's original 1870s-80s settlements, subdivided from Bluebird Canyon land; today a hillside and ridge residential area.

Three Arch Bay

29-acre private gated community within South Laguna, named for three natural rock arches; oceanfront homes with tidal pools.

South Laguna

Southern, annexed portion of the city; American Craftsman bungalows from the early 1900s dot the area per the city's own historic survey.

Laguna Canyon

Inland canyon corridor along SR-133, site of a 1980s-90s greenbelt preservation fight, adjacent to Laguna Coast Wilderness Park — wildfire exposure is a real consideration here.

A day around here

Ordinary life in Laguna Beach, the way it actually runs — not a highlight reel.

Morning

Coffee at Anastasia Cafe & Bakery, then whatever the day actually needs.

Afternoon

An hour at Dawson Cole Fine Art Sculpture Garden, between the errands that never show up on a listing sheet.

Evening

Dinner at The Lumberyard, then a short drive back to whichever neighbourhood you call home.
