Selling Strategy

What does Barstow's street work mean for your home sale?

Check Barstow's street rehabilitation schedule, listed road segments and Rimrock Road work before planning a home showing, property visit or sale.

If you’re arranging a showing or visiting a home near Barstow’s street work, check the specific road segment before setting your route.

The practical issue is getting to the property with current information. The city warns of temporary delays, lane restrictions and changes to normal traffic patterns. Its update makes no statement about home values, sales, taxes or assessments.

This is general information, not legal or tax advice.

What work is Barstow doing?

Barstow’s FY 2025-26 Street Rehabilitation Project includes pavement rehabilitation, curb ramp upgrades, roadway striping and traffic control improvements.

The City of Barstow’s Construction Updates page provides the project description, progress lists and an interactive map showing streets. Start there when checking a property. A street name alone may not settle the question because the update often identifies work between two cross streets or from a cross street to the street’s end.

For a seller, that distinction matters when describing nearby construction to a prospective buyer. Use the listed limits rather than saying an entire road is finished or under construction. For a buyer, compare those limits with the route to the property. The update provides street segments, not a list of exact property addresses.

When is the project expected to finish?

The city anticipates completing the work by November 2026, but it does not give individual streets their own completion dates.

Construction began the week of March 30, 2026. The page lists a March to November 2026 timeline and describes the project as ahead of schedule. Those statements come from an undated page reviewed on October 30, 2026. Treat them as the status reported there, rather than a guarantee about conditions on the day of a showing.

If your sale or visit depends on a particular segment, ask whether there is a newer update for that location. Give the street name and both limits. Asking when “the roadwork” will finish is less precise than asking about Armory Road between Agarita Avenue and Barstow Road.

For an example of how to read another city’s repaving list, see the guide to Placentia’s street rehabilitation projects.

Which streets are nearing the finish line?

The city lists ten segments as nearing the finish line, with minor cleanup and finishing work remaining after the major construction.

Those listed segments are:

  • Grace Street, from the cul-de-sac to Barstow Road.
  • Coyote Lane, from the cul-de-sac to Grace Street.
  • East Virginia Way, from Barstow Road to Roberta Street.
  • Helen Runyon Drive, from Virginia Way to Mountain View Avenue.
  • Roberta Street, from Roberta Court to East Main Street.
  • 7th Avenue, from Mountain View Avenue to Fredricks Street.
  • Mountain View Avenue, from Barstow Road to East Main Street.
  • Cal Avenue, from East Main Street to State Street.
  • State Street, from Cal Avenue to the end of the street.
  • Armory Road, from Muriel Drive to Montara Road.

“Nearing the finish line” still leaves work to do. If you’re preparing showing instructions, check the current signs before describing the route as clear. The page does not provide remaining tasks or finish dates for each segment, so there isn’t enough information to promise when cleanup will end.

Which streets still have more work underway?

A separate group is about half or more complete, per the city.

The update puts Armory Road and Windy Pass, each between Agarita Avenue and Barstow Road, in this group. It also lists Prairie Drive between Cypress Drive and Windy Pass, and Juniper Street between Agarita Avenue and Barstow Road.

Savanna Drive, Pine Avenue and Buckthorn Drive are each listed from Cypress Drive to the north end. Wisteria Avenue, Palmetto Drive, Madrona Avenue and Lotebush Lane are listed for their entire lengths. Pampas Court, Olive Court and Sumac Court are each listed from Armory Road to the north end.

Notice that Armory Road appears in two progress groups with different limits. Neither entry describes the whole road.

How should you plan showings around construction?

Plan for possible temporary delays and follow posted signs and detours when traveling to a showing.

The advisory applies to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. It mentions lane restrictions and changes to normal traffic patterns, so check more than the route you expect to drive. If part of your visit involves walking to the property, look for the directions posted for that part of the trip too.

A seller can check the approach before a scheduled visit and share the current posted directions. Avoid promising unrestricted access based only on a progress label. The page does not state parking restrictions, driveway access hours or specific detour routes.

If one of those details matters to your visit, ask about it directly. Ask which office can answer the access question for that segment. Another city’s repaving project is covered in the guide to Buena Park’s Valley View street repaving project and has no bearing on Barstow’s arrangements.

A Barstow seller asked us whether nearby street construction needed to be disclosed to buyers. The work was public, but it was already affecting access to the property and where visitors could park. We discussed how to explain the current conditions accurately without suggesting that the city’s construction schedule was guaranteed.

What is happening on Rimrock Road?

Rimrock Road has improvements between H Street and Barstow Road through a partnership with the San Bernardino County Department of Public Works and the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority.

The work includes Class 4 bike lane work between H Street and Barstow Road, plus asphalt paving between H Street and Lovato Avenue. Construction began June 29, 2026.

Keep those two sets of limits clear when checking the corridor. The paving description ends at Lovato Avenue; the bike lane description extends to Barstow Road. A question about one portion may need a different answer from a question about the other.

The update provides no Rimrock Road cost or completion date. Don’t apply the street rehabilitation project’s November estimate to this corridor. If a property visit depends on Rimrock Road, ask for the current corridor update and specify whether your question concerns the paving limits or the bike lane work.

What should you ask City Hall before relying on the update?

Ask City Hall for current information about the exact segment and any access question the published page leaves unanswered.

City Hall is at 220 East Mountain View St., Suite A, Barstow, CA 92311. The listed phone number is 760.256.3531. Hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; it is closed Fridays.

Have the street limits ready. Ask whether the online status remains current, whether a newer notice is available and which office can answer any unresolved access question. The page gives no contractor, funding source or project budget, and it states no rule about utility cuts after repaving.

Another Barstow guide covers Golden State Water’s proposed 2028 rates, a separate matter from the street work.

The short version

Barstow’s update helps you check construction progress and prepare a property visit, but it does not promise a completion date for your street.

Match the road name and segment limits, check the latest posted directions and ask about details the page doesn’t cover. Keep Rimrock Road’s partnership work separate from the street rehabilitation timeline.
