Mound City (city center)

The city's original name before it became Loma Linda in the late 1890s, when Los Angeles physicians reopened the failed Mound City Hotel development as a convalescent health resort.

Bryn Mawr

A formerly unincorporated community between Loma Linda and Redlands that the city formally annexed in 2008, now home to Bryn Mawr Elementary School and Bryn Mawr Veterans Memorial Park.

South Hills

The rugged, hilly southern third of the city at the northwestern edge of the geologic formation known as the Badlands, protected as a city-owned open-space reserve by local initiative.

Loma Linda University / Medical Center campus

Home to the institution that performed the first baboon-to-human heart transplant and the first split-brain surgery, and to the Loma Linda University Church, the world's largest Seventh-day Adventist congregation.

Barton Road corridor

The city's civic and commercial spine, home to the Loma Linda Civic Center (City Hall) and many of the city's vegetarian restaurants reflecting its Adventist population.
