A 1920s garden community designed by Peter N.
Platted in 1906 north of Garvey Avenue and east of Garfield Avenue, it was the area's first subdivision, laid out a decade before Monterey Park incorporated.
By 1920, Asian immigrant farmers were growing potatoes and flowers and running nurseries here, improving the old Monterey Pass Trail — now Garvey Avenue — to ship produce into Los Angeles.
Monterey Park's largest redevelopment project, opened in 2010 with roughly 205,000–230,000 square feet of retail, an AMC multiplex, and 210 condominiums on the floors above.
