Downtown / Market Street

The original townsite Thomas Bard platted in 1872, with its street grid formalized in 1888; the 1925 Bank of Hueneme building at 220 N.

Channel Islands Boulevard Business District

The city's newer commercial district on the north side, separated from the original downtown by Naval Base Ventura County, which sits between the two.

Naval Base Ventura County / Seabees District

Established May 18, 1942 as a Navy Advance Base Depot to train, stage, and supply the newly formed Seabees, renamed the Naval Construction Battalion Center in 1945 and merged with NAS Point Mugu in 2000 to form today's Naval Base Ventura County.

Hueneme Beach / Pier

A roughly mile-long south-facing surf beach anchored by a fishing pier first built in 1956 as a sewer-outfall construction trestle and since extended to 1,250 feet, with the Waterfront/Lighthouse Promenade linking it to the 1872 Wharf historic site.

Alaska Airlines Flight 261 Memorial Area

A sundial memorial on Port Hueneme's beach marks where Alaska Airlines Flight 261 crashed into the Pacific on January 31, 2000, killing all 88 aboard; its shadow crosses a bronze memorial plaque each January 31 at 4:22 p.m.
