Full neighbourhood file →Once its own stagecoach-route settlement built around Egbert Starr Newbury's 1874 land purchase, most of Newbury Park was unincorporated county land annexed into Thousand Oaks through the late 1960s and 1970s; it now makes up roughly 40 percent of the city's total land area, more than any other district.
A 2,350-unit master-planned development in westernmost Newbury Park approved by the Thousand Oaks City Council in April 1988, built over a former ranch whose two 1930s barns are Ventura County Historical Landmark No.
Unincorporated county land until Thousand Oaks approved its annexation in January 1973, North Ranch borders Oak Park, a neighboring unincorporated community whose voters have repeatedly declined annexation into the city.
